This tower is one of the oldest buildings of Sighisoara, the only tower replaced ever.

Its foundations are on the pre-Saxon citadel walls, and it was destroyed in 1241 by the invasion.

In the year of 1350 was repaired and in the 16th century it got higher as you may it see in the present.

From strategical point of view it was part of the old fortification with the Tower of Goldsmiths.
