In
the center of the mediaeval citadel is a church, "Biserica din Deal"
is the citadels most valuable arhitectual monument.
The
church is a mixture of art-styles, but in general dominates the gothic one. The
building of it starts in 1345 continuing with pauses until 1525, partial painted
from the outside, fully painted from the inside.
In
the church are rare sculptures but mostly rare religious paintings.
Below
the chorus you can find the only crypt known in Transylvania from the 16th-18th
century. After the decision of destroying the painting in 1776 copies has been
made on scrolls, but these disappeared.
The
church is the home of an altar from the 15th century and other altars from Saes
and Cund.
Some
hidden stairs are takes us in the basement, it seems like some hidden corridors
were here to the forest nearby. The actual form of the church is the result of
the reconstruction between 1991-1999, realized by a German found.
