The
castle and the town were founded in the middle age.
In the year of 1280 the town appears as "castrum
Sex", only later in 1435 was given, even now
used name "Sighisoara".
The archeological researches nearby the town had brought
to the surface tools made of stone and metal used
by the people.
The
researches done by professor Karl Seraghin in 1898
demonstrated that at only 2 miles from the town on
the right shore of the Tarnava has been an old community.
Diggings at different depths has bought to the surface
a huge number of owens, made and used by the people.
One of these owens with the diameter of almost 50
feet was recovered and restored. You can see it in
the local Museum. Other traces proven that here were
huts made using mud. The inventory of the objects
found here is composed of little statues that symbols
human faces, bird, animals, needles, whistles, buttons,
skate made of bone, hammers etc.
